As a young, popular singer-songwriter, she's one of the most successful selling artists. Born in Barbados her family listened to reggae and started singing when she was quite young. Disturbed by the chaos in her family and conflicting with her parents she immersed herself in music and before long realized that she wanted to be a professional singer. When she was still in high school she joined a musical group, and was asked to audition to be a part of Evan Rodgers. The producer was extremely impressed by the ability of this girl. In order to make an income as a professional singer, Rodgers asked her to relocate to New York. Her debut album quickly was a huge success and she was called the next big thing in music. Rihanna's peppy songs were the favorites among the young, motivating her into film. The young and gifted Rihanna is now regarded as a teenage idol as well as a fashion icon.
